Ride the RVA Foodie Train

We have been featured as having some of the best restaurants in the United States. Some of our dining establishments have been featured in the NY Times, Food & Wine, and Bon Appétit Magazine. We boast some really great RVA eats!

Lulabelle’s Cafe // Near West End // Southern
Uniquely located, locally owned and grandma influenced, the sandwiches are nicely portioned and the sides are delicious. Don’t forget to order pie and enjoy this friendly setting. A great place for catering options.

Galley to Go /Galley Kitchen // Southside // American with Latin Influences
I don’t have a lot of pizza places that wow me, except for this place. Guistino’s Pizza is creative and classically delicious. Love Galley for late night eats and a decent brunch.

ZZQ // Scott’s Addition // BBQ
The BEST BBQ in town, hands down. Expect lines, super friendly service, and the best brisket to touch your tongue. Texas Style Craft BBQ made with care and with savory sides.

Kuba Kuba // The Fan // Cuban
Always a meal worth having no matter time of day, authentically appetizing, this place is a RVA institution. Cozy seating and for the love of all good things try the Tres Leches.

Lehja // Short Pump // Indian
Get your curry bud on, bar none one of the best Indian restaurants in town. It’s not in the best location but totally worth a trip to the mall. Cafe Rustika // German // Downtown
Cozy and a great date place, this is the best schnitzel bar in town. German beers on tap, homemade Brats and a great wine selection.

Brenner Pass // Scott’s Addition // Contemporary European
A beautiful restaurant that can get a little loud at times due to the modern design, but the food speaks for itself. It will wow you and the cocktails are equivalently impressive. Knowledgeable staff, not super Vegetarian friendly. Visit their sister, Metzgar in Church Hill for equal excellence.

La Grotta // Downtown // Northern Italian
Feeling romantic, this is impressive date place with perfect portions, excellent service and delicious Prix Fixe menus.

The Continental // Westhampton // American
Want a great limeade and a great Brunch? Plenty of options and a great kid friendly place with lots of Vegetarian options. Can get a little crazy on weekends.

Lucy’s // Jackson Ward // American
One of my favorite brunches in town! The setting is casual and easy going with delicious locally sourced ingredients. Cute front patio for dining a la fresca. Welcoming staff!

Don’t Look Back // Scott’s Addition // Mexican
With a new location in Southside, DLB is always sprinkled with a myriad of people. Delicious tacos that don’t disappoint, affordable, and a good tequila selection. A great place to play pool or hang out in the lounge area. Don’t miss karaoke night!

Longoven // Scott’s Addition // Eclectic
Whether you choose a la carte or the tasting menu, these three brilliant chefs will give you a meal to remember. Beautiful, intimate, and modern setting. Reservations are recommended.

Stellas // Near West End // Greek
Savory Greek dishes in a lovely setting. A great place for lunch or dinner. Perfect for special occasions with an inviting and knowledgeable staff. Check out their market in three convenient locations.

Sabai // The Fan // Thai
I’ve never had a bad meal here, nor has it lacked in spice. I’m also a fan of the decor and people seem to love the exotic drink concoctions coming from the bar. Want some traditional Laotian cuisine? Visit their sister restaurant Temple and have your tastebuds titillated!

Enoteca Sogno // Northside // Rustic Italian
This is a little hidden gem. Warm atmosphere with amazing food and wine. Impress a date with some candlelight and seasonal fare.

Akida // The Fan // Japanese
This place has always been THE place for sushi in Richmond. I’ve never had a bad experience here and there’s always tons of rolls to choose from.

Dutch & Co // Church Hill // Seasonal
Quaint spot for smaller plates and regional influences. Always busy! Try the Perfect Egg at least once. Great cocktail menu.

Salt & Forge // Jackson Ward // Sandwiches
I love this pretty little cafe! They have really good sandwiches and salads. Check out their early morning breakfast as well. Everything is house made and with local ingredients.

Southbound // Southside // Seasonal
Best chicken wings! You wouldn’t think a restaurant in a strip mall could be so tasty. I love this place and its atmosphere. Cocktails are spot on, staff is friendly, and two of the best chefs in town!

Halfway House // N. Chesterfield // American
A little historic hideaway, built in 1760, this dining establishment prob has ghosts in its walls, but they are definitely enjoying the cuisine. One of my favorite Winter places to dine.

L’opossum // Oregon Hill // Extrasensory
Looking for flavors that will excite you? This is the spot for you and the cocktails will knock your socks off. Eclectic menu and great staff!

Metzger Bar & Butchery // Union Hill // Rustic
German inspired and nestled in an off the beaten path location, Metzger is a flavorful destination. The pork chop is where its at!

Old Faithfuls

These restaurants have been around forever in Richmond and when in doubt you’ll always be welcomed there.

Mama Zu // Oregon Hill // Italian
If you live in Richmond and have not eaten here, you are absolutely insane. Consistently one of the best places to dine and the best Rockfish I’ve ever had. Ask no questions, be there early or late or expect to be in line, you won’t be disappointed. Visit their sister restaurants: Dinamo, 81/2, Edo’s Squid.

Joe’s Inn // The Fan // American
One of the best happy hour in town. Get the pasta! Breakfast all day.

Bamboo Cafe // The Fan // American
They’ve always had great dishes in a cozy neighborhood bar! Serves breakfast until 2pm and they have great dinner specials. You’ll always find local denizens here that have warmed their stools for years!

Sidewalk Cafe // The Fan // Greek-American
This is the spot for Bar Food. Great staff, can get a little crowded at night. Get the nachos!

Mexico // All over town // Mexican
Fast, consistent, and Gringo friendly. They have numerous family owned locations.

Dot’s Back Inn // Northside // American
Tons of characters adorn the bar, delicious burgers and copious amounts of specials for dining throughout the day. One of the busiest brunch places in town. Saucy staff and you’ll be called Sugar and Honey here a lot.

Mary Angela’s Pizza // Carytown // Italian
Yummy subs and delicious NY style pizza will remind you of college days gone by. Perfect for a pitstop while shopping.

Bacchus // The Fan // Italian
I love this place for how many options you get. It’s consistently delicious and table service has always been good and friendly.

Patrick Henry Pub // Church Hill / American
You can go upstairs and have some proper pub fare or you can grab a stool down below and enjoy lively conversations, good music, trivia night, a nice patio out back or find yourself on a Tinder date.

Poe’s Pub // Church Hill // American
Bikers, old bar flies, and 30somethings getting away from 20somethings. Sometimes there’s some great music and the service is proper. Enjoy the patio in the Spring/Summer.

Millies // Church Hill // Seasonal
Wide spectrum of menu items. One of the busiest brunch places in RVA. Vintage feel and always delicious.

Pho Tay Do // West End // Vietnamese
My favorite Pho in town is found in this tiny little house set abutting a neighborhood. You will never be disappointed and if they are closed go to Pho Thien Phat in front of it for comparable eats.

La Milpa // N. Chesterfield // Mexican
I’ve always loved this 24 hour Mexican restaurant equipped with its own market. Authentically delicious!
